Võ Thị Sáu (1933-1952) was a Vietnamese heroine who fought against the French colonialists during the First Indochina War. Her parents were peasants who worked as laborers on a French-owned plantation. Sáu's life took a dramatic turn when she was just 12 years old. In 1945, during the August Revolution, her father was arrested and imprisoned by the French for his involvement in the resistance movement. This event sparked Sáu's desire to fight against the French colonialists and free her country from their oppression. At the age of 13, Sáu joined the resistance movement, using her youth and innocence to gather intelligence and transport ammunition and food to the fighters. Her bravery and determination quickly earned her the respect and admiration of her comrades. On January 23, 1952, at the age of 19, Sáu was captured by the French while on a mission to transport ammunition. Despite being tortured and beaten, she refused to reveal any information about the resistance movement. On the same day, she was sentenced to death by firing squad and executed in the town of Đất Đỏ. Võ Thị Sáu's sacrifice and bravery have become legendary in Vietnamese history, inspiring generations of young people to fight for their country's independence and freedom. Today, she is remembered as a national heroine, and her name is synonymous with courage and patriotism.
