When writing formal letters to request things or information, you should use indirect questions. They are more polite and give you a better chance of getting a positive response.

I would like to know how long the project is going to take. There are many unemployed people in Hickleton, and more jobs would help a lot. People would be happy to hear that the project will finish quickly, and jobs will be available soon.

Could you also tell me about its environmental impact? Dams require a reservoir to be made, and the water of a river has to be redirected. The local people would be happy to hear that it will not cause much environmental damage.

I would also appreciate you telling me about how electricity prices may change. The prices are very high here. It would be great to report that the prices will decrease.

Finally, I would like to know about how the dam will look. Hickleton is a very beautiful town, and people travel here for tourism. People want to know that the dam will not make fewer people want to travel here.
