Technology has come a long way over the years. What is surprising, however, is how much of today's technology is based on ideas that people thought of years ago. For example, in 1968, Alan Kay-an American computer scientist-developed an idea for a computer called the Dynabook. Kay's idea was that the Dynabook would be a lightweight personal computer with a very long battery life. The device was never made commercially because technology wasn't advanced enough at that time. However, Kay made a model out of cardboard, and his idea inspired the modern-day tablet.

In the 1970s, Steve Mann-an American researcher and inventor-developed the idea of wearable technology. One of Mann's first inventions was the EyeTap Digital Eye Glass, a computer people could wear as a pair of glasses. This technology did not take off at the time. However, people today are starting to use wearable technology, such as smart glasses and watches.

Many people used to think ideas like Kay's and Mann's would never work. Perhaps the things we think are unrealistic today might one day become a reality.
