Thomas Edison, born in Ohio in 1847, was a great inventor whose passion for experimenting with electrical and mechanical things led him to make many inventions that improved the quality of human life. After moving to Michigan with his family at the age of 7 and quitting school

after 2 months, he learned with his mother at home and began to experiment. While working as a newsboy on a train, he accidentally set fire to the floor of a baggage car while doing experiments. His continued experimentation eventually resulted in his first patent in 1868. Edison's

many inventions, including the phonograph, the light bulb, and the motion picture camera, have had a lasting impact on the world. He died in 1931, but his legacy lives on in his inventions and the inspiration he provides to inventors today.
