The Sierra Club, a grassroots organization that works to protect ecological communities, encourage smart energy solutions, and create an enduring legacy for America's wildernesses, was co-founded by naturalist and conservationist John Muir in 1892. Its current initiatives include developing alternatives to fossil fuels , limiting greenhouse emissions, and protecting wildlife communities; it's also involved in issues like environmental justice, clean air and water, global population growth, toxic waste, and responsible trade. The Sierra Club supports vibrant chapters across the U.S. that encourage members to become involved in local conservation work.

One of the wildlife organizations that I am familiar with is the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). For over 50 years, AWF has been working towards the conservation and protection of Africa's wildlife and their habitats. They focus on delivering innovative solutions to critical conservation challenges across the continent, working in 14 African countries to safeguard iconic species such as elephants, lions, and giraffes. Through community conservation, ecological monitoring, and public-private partnerships, AWF works to promote ecotourism, protect natural resources, and build sustainable livelihoods for local communities. The organization also works towards increasing public awareness of conservation efforts and empowering local communities through education, advocacy, and technology. AWF's work has had a significant impact, resulting in the doubling of elephant numbers in some areas, reintroduction of cheetahs into areas where they had become extinct, and the protection of gorilla populations in central Africa. The African Wildlife Foundation is a vital organization in the pursuit of a sustainable, healthy, and diverse African continent.
